8-4-8 Tree Spike containing Iron, Manganese, Magnesium, Copper, Zinc, Boron and 13% Sulfur.

Lutz Ultra Tree Micro Spikes are ideal for all trees and shrubs, from Fruit, Citrus (that really thrive on the micros), to Evergreens, Maples, Birch and Oaks that require the Iron, Manganese and Sulfur.

Each 8-4-8 Ultra Tree Micro Spike contains the critical micro-nutrients required in all trees and shrubs. Plus a full 13% sulfur, which is critical to lowering pH, creating an environment in the feeding area that assists with the uptake of all the vital micro-nutrients.

Special binders slowly release the nutrients for up to 12 months. Lutz Ultra Tree Micro Spikes work underground at the feeder roots, to release these elements where the trees/shrubs get their nourishment. Easy, annual applications, provide superior healthy green growth! Check the rate chart here

Perfect General Purpose Spike - 8-10-10 with Mn and Fe - For all Trees and Shrubs

How the 8-10-10 “Perfect” Spike Works

The Lutz “Perfect” Fertilizer Spikes were formulated to solve the deficiency problems that most often prevent good healthy green-up and sound growth. Each “Perfect” tree fertilizer Spike contains 4.8% combined Sulfur (S), 3.3% Iron Sulfate (Fe) and 3.2% Manganese Sulfate (Mn). This compares with 0% of these critical elements in most other tree & shrub fertilizer spikes.

Lutz 'Perfect' Fertilizer Spikes are an excellent replacement for any fruit tree fertilizer, lemon tree fertilizer, orange tree fertilizer, or evergreen fertilizer spikes you might have tried in the past.  They are superior to other Tree Spikes and Fertilizer Spikes in that they contain the all-important micronutrients.

As Dr. Henry Donselman says, “Trees and shrubs require sulfur, iron sulfate and manganese sulfate for good healthy growth. N-P-K only fertilizer spikes without these minors do not fill the nutritional needs of trees and shrubs.”

  • Elemental sulfur in the “Perfect” Tree Spike lowers the pH in the feeding area, creating an environment that assists the plants uptake of the manganese and iron.
  • Special binders in the Lutz 'Perfect' fertilizer spikes safely release the elements over time. It takes up to 12 months for the “Perfect” fertilizer spikes to completely dissolve.
  • Lutz “Perfect” Tree Spikes work underground at the feeder roots to release the elements where the trees and shrubs get their nourishment. They can’t wash away like surface applications.
  • Lutz “Perfect” Fertilizer Spikes help overcome the deficiencies of N-P-K only fertilizer spikes.

We expect you will be more than pleased with the results you get from the Lutz “Perfect” Tree Spikes.

River Birch/Red Maple Spike - 20% Manganese cures yellowing Mn Chlororsis

High pH is most often the factor in the yellowing manganese chlorosis often seen in Maples, Birch and other manganese deficient trees and shrubs.

We formulated the Lutz Maple/Birch Spike to contain a full 20% Manganese Sulfate. Then we add a full 16% elemental sulfur, which lowers the pH in the feeding area, creating an environment that assists in the plaints uptake of the essential chlorophyll producing manganese.  The small amount of nitrogen in the Spike also assists with this uptake.

Low Cost – Highly Effective – Easy to Apply

Suggested Coverage and Placement

  • Place one Lutz Maple/Birch Tree Spike every four feet at the outer edge of the dripline. If deficiency is severe, reduce spacing to 3.5 feet.
  • Spikes can be either pounded into the ground using plastic caps provided, or dropped into the root zone, using the Lutz Fast/Feeder to make 8-inch deep openings. Heel the holes closed.

Iron Chlorosis Treatment

Iron Chlorosis Spikes for Trees and Shrubs

Lutz Iron Chlorosis Spikes treat Iron Chlorosis (Yellowing) in Pin Oak, White Oak, Rd Oak, Silver Maple, River Birch, Pines, Crabapple, Sweet Gum, Magnolia, Dogwood, Holly, Poplar, Juniper, Rhododendron, Azalea, and all other acid-loving Trees, Shrubs and Plants.

Iron is necessary for the formation of chlorophyll, which is responsible for the green color in plants and is a source of plant food and energy. When the amount of iron available to plants is inadequate for normal growth, leaves become pale green, yellow or white, eventually brown and die. The newest foliage is most severely affected by iron chlorosis. If not corrected severely affected plants may fail to grow, flower or fruit.

Lutz Iron Spikes are the ideal soil amendment for iron poor plants

Soil pH is most often a factor in Iron Chlorosis. Se we put a full 4.8% Sulfur in our Iron Chlorosis Spike, which creates an environment in the feeding area that frees up the iron, which is in a form readily available to the plant. The 5% Nitrogen also assists with the uptake of all nutrients, but most importantly the 16% iron sulfate we have in the Iron Chlorosis Spike.

Favorable color responses are often seen the 2nd growing season. Amending iron chlorotic soils is a process, so annual applications are recommended, semi-annual applications if iron deficiency is severe. Greatest color response is seen with the onset of new leaf.

What our customers say about Lutz Palm Tree Spikes!

"We have been using the Lutz Palm Tree Maintenance Spike for about three years. They outperform similar granular type fertilizers by correcting nutrient deficiencies faster and more effectively. We also recommend them to our retail customers."

John Klement

"I live in Charlotte, NC and grow cold-hardy palms outdoors. I have been using your palm maintenance spikes, along with the manganese spikes, for about 5 years. I have been very pleased with the results on my windmill, sable minor, needle, and sago palms. Healthy palms help weather cold winters better in marginal climates like this one."

Ken Szymanski

"I just wanted to tell Mr. Lutz that I have purchased all three spikes to treat my queen Palms in the desert. It has been about three months and ALL 15 of my queen Palms have healthy spikes coming out with new lush green foliage! Amazing! I am telling all of my neighbors about your product. You saved my trees; I was going to cut them down and replace them with Mexican Fans. I will be a client for life."
