Dr. Bruce Wood and the USDA Georgia began testing these Lutz Zinc Spikes early in 2015, and leaf tissue results showed excellent uptake of Zinc into Pecan leaf.
Dr. Wood tested 0,2,4,8, 16 Spikes per tree, and found leaf Zn concentration increased with the increase in Spikes. He noted, "So, it looks like usage of Zinc Spikes in acidic soil can increase pecan canopy concentration, based on midÂsummer leaf analysis". Dr. Wood wants to monitor for another 2 years, to see how Zn levels hold over time. We will share those results in due course.
Best results were seen with 8 or 16 Spikes per mature Pecan tree.
